3for the good fortune of the Athenian
4People, so that
5the decisions of the People
6may be carried out as swiftly as possible
7concerning the colony
8to the Adriatic, the People
9shall resolve: that the
10supervisors of the shipyards
11shall hand over to the trierarchs
12the ships and the equipment
13in accordance with the decisions of the
14People, and the trierarchs
15who have been appointed shall
16bring their ships up along to the
17jetty in the month
18of Mounichion before the tenth
19and present them
20prepared for
21sailing; and the first to
22bring his ship along, let
23the People crown him with a gold
24crown of 500 drachmas;
25and the second with one of 300
26drachmas; and the third
27with one of 200 drachmas; and
28let the herald of the Council announce
29the crowns at the competition of the Thargelia,
30and the finance officers
31shall allocate the money
32for the crowns, so that the
33love of honour of the trierarchs
34towards the People may be apparent;
35and in order that the
36pleas for exemption may also be heard,
37the thesmothetai shall
38fill the courts to
39two hundred and one for the
40general elected
41in charge of the symmories, in the
42month of Mounichion on the
43second and the
44fifth, and
45the treasurers of the goddess
46shall provide the payment
47for the courts according to the
48law; and in order that the People
49may have for all
50time their own markets and
51grain transport, and by the
52establishment of their own naval station
53may have protection against
54the Etruscans, and Miltiades

57navy, and those Greeks

83shall elect as despatchers

85all the Athenians; and those

89and it shall be permitted
90for the Council and the prytany

92despatch to be crowned
93by the People with a gold

95and if this decree
96lacks anything in relation to the
97despatch, the Council
98shall be empowered to vote on it,
99so long as they do not undo any of what
100has been voted by the People;
